making a silioute

I have corel x3 virsion 13 and I am trying to copy an image (say from a picture on the internet) and it is in bitmap form.  I have no problem converting it to vector are but I want it in all black (as a silioute) I can change the colors but my file is still full of the original color separation nodes.  this creates a huge file for me to send and what I really  want is just  the outline.  I have gone through  a picture and after many hours of deleting nodes it appears  i just have the outline  but I can't fill it with any color.(black)  I know Adobe Illustrator has a command  (merge i think )  is there a simple way in corel to do this?

  • Hello Walt,
    Try this:
    -Quick Trace
-rt click on black in the palet colours (this will give you a solid outline)
-Ungroup all, remove the "box" outline.
-Smart Fill tool set at default, click once, anywhere on image.
