Why are the colours in Fashion+Home palette in Corel X5 with names not with TPC or TPX numbers?
Why than you can not open your own Fashion+Home Digital Library?
How the fashion and textile designers will work with X5 if all the fabric producers work with Pantone numbers not with names?
Is there a possibility to adjust that and how ?
I saw just the trial version I wanted this week to order X5, but I am wondering now ......
The names in the files came to Corel from PANTONE. What are you looking at that shows the names differently then how they are being displayed in the applications?
T.
The Pantone Fashion and Home pallet swatches have two names - the Pantone reference name ( like PANTONE 11-0602 TCX ) and alpha name ( e.g. "Snow White" ) as secondary identifier ( http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/Pantone.aspx?pg=20051&ca=1 ). We used secondary identifier name as a name we show in our UI, however apparently F&H are quite different in this regard compared to other Pantone pallets. The original Pantone reference names are in the palette ( PantoneFashionHomeCotton.xml ) but it would require quite a lot of copy paste editing for user to make it work. We can regenerate F&H palettes using Pantone reference numbers, instead of secondary names, and make them available. However first we need to know whether nobody in textile/fashion world is using secondary alpha names e.g." Snow White" for reference. Currently our spot palette UI do not have support for both reference and secondary name, before F&H there was no need. Anybody who is using F&H Pantone libraries - could you please give your feedback about what Pantone reference you rely on - TCX/TC or name? Thanks.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Do I understand you correctly - you need us to show both Pantone reference number AND the alternative name in Draw X5 UI?

First Thank you for the fast reaction !!!!
I personally need just the numbers! I know that's not possible and is not usual for Corel - one palette with 2 names. And than the search also will be not easy .Normally you just type the number and it shows very fast. I also want to tell you, that the Trends books give also both names for the new fashion colours.
I wonder if you make it like update, just extra pallete ,maybe thats will be the best !!!
So the custumers can use both of them!!!
For example- Pantone Fashion+Home (reference numbers) - that is just an idea for solution!
I will be happy if I was helpful. A lot of different type designers use the program and you cant know everything to satisfied everybody, that's because come new versions :)

Thank you for information. I am not sure at the moment what the plan is going to be, most likely we will need to update our F&H palette. However we can not duplicate essentially the same palette with the different color names, the solution should be me consistent. And thank you for offering help with textile/fashion workflows, I am sure Tony will take note. For X5 SP1 we fixed several bugs voiced by designers working in textile/fashion workflows - we added anti-aliasing support for vector patterns and we resolved long-standing bug with precise vector pattern positioning in PostScript output/printing.
I will wait for news. And I will wait with the buying because the work with colours for me is 70% of my projects ! :(
I'm doing the hard work of renaming the colours in the Fashion Palette to TPX numbers for my own use as a custom palette. In a couple of days it will be ready. If Corel authorizes me I'll be glad to make it public. Please let me know your advice.
Are you not afraid to make mistake with so much colours. Corel already has a palette with TPX from Pantone just they have to adjust it !!!! You are hero to rename all this colours!!!
Well,I took the Corel's palette , and with the aid of a XML editor I change the name, line by line . And of course I'am afraid to make mistakes, but it will be so useful when done that it's worth the effort.
The custom Pantone Fashion Palette by specification numbers is ready. To avoid mistakes (as far as possible) I maked use of a XML editor to copy and paste the numbers, without the need of any typing. You can download my custom Pantone Fashion Palette from: http://www.my-online.es/pageID_9921819.html
Please feel free to use it. Hope it will be useful for fashion designers.
Muy buen trabajo, gracias por compartir con nosotros tu esfuerzo (que imagino que no ha sido poco). Mis sinceras felicitaciones por tu aporte.
