I'm not a graphics guy.....I'm trying to open an .ai file and the error message states: resave without compression"
How do I do that????

What you need to do is what the message says.
Open the file in Adobe Illustrator and resave it without compression.
CorelDraw has an issue with importing Compressed Ai files.
See attached.
the newaet version of Illustrator use a different kind of compression. You must open it with the new Illustrator version and save without compression, in order to open with CorelDRAW. If you want, you can upload to a free storage service, such as gigasize.com, megaupload.com or other, and one of us will convert the file for you
