Over the last month I have noticed that most of my OpenType fonts are not being recognised, even images previously created are not finding the opentype font (like "Quay Sans) that was used. If I try and open the font from the font file I get the message "was not a valid font file". I am using windows XP, does anyone have any idea of the problem/solution please.
X4 is really old and has limited modern font support, time to upgrade.
...and Windows Xp is too old and has not support for OpenType. Time to upgrate to Windows 7 at least
ok, I've sorted it, there is some sort of issue with one of the programmes I downloaded recently. Either Cloud, itunes or Amazon music causes some sort of problem that many of the opentype fonts become unsupported files, perhaps this is something corel needs to look at, as I have removed all 3 and all my opentype fonts are fine.
X4 isn't that old, there is too much of this throw away, 2010 decade is becoming known as the throw away society, what has happpened to "fix a problem".
What do you mean by limited font support.

Just a note, Ariel. XP handled OpenType just fine; in fact, the format often worked better than TrueType.
It Seems you found the problem and it has nothing to do with Corel but other programs causing the problem all of a sudden so perhaps they should look at how they work.
Open type fonts work fine in xp x4 however does not support the full character set available in some open type fonts such as ligatures, swash and decorative characters. X6 and x7 do.
We use open type daily on 6 xp systems with Corel x4 no problem.
