Available/unavailable fonts on CorelDrawX4

Is there a way to make a lot more fonts available on corelDrawX4? Everything I design on Illustrator then transfer to corelDraw says 'font not available'. Am I missing a trick? Is there a way to know on Illustrator which fonts will also be available on CorelDraw x4?

First you need to have the font on your system to use it. Not necessary that it is installed. Just a font file would do. X7 and older versions have BFN (Bitstream Font Navigator ) A third Party application. You can run it and find fonts from your system to let BFN create a database of available fonts. Installed or not installed but available. Whenever you get a font missing warning, Corel will give you an option to install it from BFN if it is available on system.

In short you can have a large number of 'Not installed' fonts and still use it in DRAW with the help of BFN.

BTW , latest version X8 has Corel Font Manager which is even better. BFN is no more a part of suite since X8.

Also, check if illustrator is using OpenType fonts and you are using only TrueType fonts

I'm still not understanding how the BFN works from a design standpoint. You don't actually have to install the fonts. So how do you begin a design with text? How are you going to pick through different fonts to see how they look in the design? Are all the fonts the FN finds going to show up in the font list drop down for use or do you have to find what you want to use in FN first then install it?

You can view a sample on font navigator. Right click on the bottom right panel

Ok, now I remember this conversation from another post. I will not use this method of design in any capacity. Too slow!
I design signs as fast as possible. I don't have time to track what fonts are used or not. I grab the font tool and type out my text then hit the font list drop down to pick a font that works best for the design. I don't have time to go through FN and install one then find it doesn't look good and have to go thru the process again. If you're doing that you're nuts!
I understand that a lot of problems or bottlenecks is having too many fonts installed. I have over 2000 fonts installed and my system is still extremely fast!
