This is my first time using the community so here goes! I have an issue with CorelDraw X8 when I try to paste from a pdf or open a cgm file some (not all) of the text will be stretched out horizontally to a point it is unreadable.

Would you please upload a .CDR file that has some examples of the "stretched" text in it?
When replying, you can click on the "Use rich formatting" link. That takes you to an editor that includes a button for "Insert/Edit media" that should allow you to upload a file.

It could be useful to check the original PDF file for compare. Maybe the PDF doesn't include the fonts. Also you could try to open the PDF with CorelDRAW with Text as curves instead for test it
