+++Update 2016-07 - Print View button in Corel DESIGNER X7 workspace +++
Working on a large format drawing you might want to printout selected areas of the drawing for a quick discussion, review or other purposes. You don't want to print the whole drawing and selecting the appropriate tile as single page on your Office printer is also not that direct to accomplish that.
Using the automation interface in Corel DESIGNER we have created a "Print View" feature which simply prints a rectangular portion of the actual screen in original (drawing) size.
For using this feature you need to copy the macro file "PrintView.gms" into the GMS folder in your CorelDRAW Technical Suite / Corel DESIGNER Technical Suite installation (\Designer\GMS in the installation path - e.g. C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Technical Suite X7\Designer\GMS).
Alternatively (if you don't have local admin rights to write to the Program Files folder) you can post the PrintView.gms file in your profile (C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Corel\CorelDRAW Technical Suite X7\Designer\GMS)
The menu item "Print View" can be created using the Tools > Customization... dialog. You can also import the "Print View" button as new command bar into the current workspace.
In Corel DESIGNER X5 or X4, use the "PrintView.xslt" file.
In Corel DESIGNER X7, use the "DESIGNERX7-Extension-toolbar-PrintView_EN.cdws" file.Here's the corresponding workspace file for German UI: "DESIGNERX7-Standard-toolbar-PrintView_DE.cdws" - this will import the "Print view" ("Ansicht drucken") command button into the Standard toolbar.
From there you can move/ copy the "Print View" command as any other menu item to the desired place of the Corel DESIGNER UI.
Notes:The area selection will wait for input for 10 seconds before it is cancelled.You can cancel the selection with the Esc key.The macro behind this extension is accessible in the VBA Editor.
This tip and all files in it are provided as is, without any warranty or support by Corel Corporation.
Hi Klaus...i like sound of that print view feature but my version of Designer is (currently) 'out of date'.
I'm wondering if the print selection also be emailed into an 'inline' email via default email client like Outlook?
