Hi there, I have just updated to the subscription v2022. And I'm finding it keeps crashing on me. I have experienced crashing in the past on v2020 because it hasn't liked the fonts. But this is crashing for no reason I can see. Is this happening to others of just me - tempted to go back to v2020
I'm seeing it as well. Constant crashing with no rhyme or reason. If it were one thing, I could figure out a work-around, but it's everything and anything.
I was a tier-1 beta tester for many years. Typically, we would look at things like: memory leaks, driver issues, etc.
For me, the app some times freezes. I keep Task Manager open and what I'm seeing are 4 files:
It's strange that a crash handler would be launched after opening a CorelDraw 2022 file. Obviously, the app is creating some sort of log file, but I don't see it being forwarded to Corel.
I messaged Corel help.
They said two issues, Windows 10 needs some updates and my printer drivers needed updating. I have updated the printer driver but still having issues such as missing elements on the printed page or just not spooling or printing. If I bitmapped the whole page before printing it prints okay. Not sure if it is a font issue with the printer.
This is from Corel help - you may understand it with your background.
Reason is that since 2020, Microsoft has changed Windows 10 and crashes as you describe are caused by the mismatch of hardware and Windows.
Since Windows 10 2004/20H2, I noticed that customers have got issues if their hardware was made before 2016 the required system updates are no longer offered. Without these hardware updates (in particular the BIOS and drivers), Windows 10 2004/20H2 won't work properly. kernelbase.dll, combase.dll and uctrbase.dll crashes affect all programs not just our software are typical for old hardware that is no longer supported by Windows 10 2004/20H2.
I have no issue with any other software that I use.
My files are freezing to and crashing and then not opening.
Have you tried restoring the default workspace?
Yes. Nothing happens so far. I plan to start a drawing with tons of objects before upgrading my machine next week. I will see if that work.
I assume you getting an all new set of boards and a new processor and RAM, correct?
Yes, board, CPU, and RAM.
Also got another crash. But I think I finally found the main culprit. Previously I thought that having many complex objects on the canvas cause the lag and eventually lead to crash; objects with transparent gradient (gradient that set transparency on the colour) that got another transparent from transparent tool (applying transparent with transparent tool on top of object that already has transparent property from gradient tools. When I have a few of such objects stacking on each other, CorelDraw really struggle to render it. Major lag when zooming or scrolling, or even disappear just to pop out one by one.
I experiment with new file with only four objects as I described.
Zooming in and out of right cirlcle gave me major lag in performance. When I scroll to zoom in, the scroll bar get shorter but on the canvas freeze for 2-3 seconds.
Please post a link to your test file. Unless this file is 80 feet square at 300 DPI I can't imagine that any of my systems would have issues.
Are you using any non-distructive effects that haven't been flattened?
No, the objects were created using gradient and transparency tool. This is what happen when I try zooming. Please take note of the vertical scroll bar on the right as indicator of zooming and compare it to how the canvas is render 4 circles with transparent gradient and another transparency. The latter half of the video I disable the transparent effect and you can clearly see that the zooming is much, much more smooth.

This video was recorded after i upgrade my PC with i5-10500 and 32 GB RAM and Windows 11 and latest Nvidia studio driver for Windows 11. For my little test there's no difference compared to what happen on my Windows 10 when I created this test file.
