Program crashes unexpectedly while performing various tasks (e.g., saving, printing, copying, pasting, etc., etc.). So far no tweaks suggested by Corel tech support over the last 3 months have resolved the problem. I exclusively use CorelDRAW to make life/safety diagrams of medical facilities. Typical workflow is to import PDF of existing diagram, ungroup, edit, save, and export new diagram to PDF for distribution. I am an experienced CDGS user, and am using a new Dell computer (plenty of RAM, good GPU, Windows 11, and all the software is up to date. Crashes less often when I perform my edits at a snail’s pace, but even then it crashes unexpectedly…seems like the program is having a problem managing multi-tasks. I’m sure that other CorelDRAW users have experienced this problem and hopefully found a solution. I joined the CorelDRAW community to find a solution. HELP!
Here are a couple screen captures of my typical work experience, no crashes very few if any slowdowns. I have 6 programs open and I still can use edit bitmap to send my screen captures from one place to another. I have over 5GB of files in memory, using transparency and large images.
Ok, so it is obvious that is what you need for your typical work experience.
So how does that relate to my typical work experience CorelDRAW - 2 or 3 files open?
No crashes today, but three yesterday with the same conditions.
None of my resources are strained, in fact there's plenty of headroom.
Again there's nothing on my PC other than for work, no games or extraneous software all on a fresh Win 10 install. CDR is the latest version and up to date as well
Yet I get the random crash, maybe I farted?
I don't know how your files are created but you can see my configuration, resources and use. Your Wi-Fi is running only 8KB and 80KB on my ethernet run, I'm running over 5GB of files from my server. I have only one wireless machine and that's a laptop, I improved its capabilities by updating the wireless transceiver.
Crashing issues while there are some CorelDRAW issues, but the vast majority are either creation methods, hardware or interacting software related. The files I was working on originated at an architect and were created in Sketchup, Photoshop and Illustrator by a user who (according to her IT tech) is notorious for system issues. Her original files ran vastly slower than my cleaned up CorelDRAW versions. She uses transparency where she shouldn't and in mass quantities.
I've seen simple files cause issues because the file source was a very old CorelDRAW file with custom spot palettes used. Created way back when Draw used to allow users to create spot palettes incorrectly.
Not knowing your network situation because a poorly set up network can also cause issues. I'd suggest trying to hardwire the network as it's cheap most people have CAT 5 or CAT 7 cables lying around. What is the Logictech gaming framework and the media player open for? As well as 12 versions of Google Chrome open. Are you asking form problems with that may web sites open?
Even if I'm just image editing, I'll have 4 to 6 programs open simultaneously passing files back and forth constantly for hours at a time. If you look at the capture my uptime for this setting was 4 hours 22 minutes.
I use Logitech G300s programmable mouse which is why there's the Logictech gaming framework open
The media player is uh, playing music; Boccherini Cello Concertos at that time.
Are you suggesting the CorelDRAW is that sensitive any little thing will cause to crash? I would expect this from beta versions of software and not from mature software.
Again David I use AutoCAD and Sketchup without any problems.
Anyway without investing thousands of dollars in cutting edge IT tech I did find the most likely reason for the crashes.
If I save the file then immediately (mouse wheel) zoom that will most likely result in a crash.
Smaller files are not prone to this occurrence, only the larger files will this be a problem.
There have been issues with Logitech products and CorelDRAW reported on this forum, I use both a Logitech Mouse and Keyboard.
I'm assuming that you zoom after the save command has finished, if so this may be a graphics card resource issue.
I never had any issues with Logitech and with this older particular mouse.
Yes I see the Floppy Disk icon for saving and saves do not take that long to finish.
My graphic card is hardly ticking over. Even with huge building site AutoCAD files or Sketchup files I don't have any graphic card issues.
Even zooming after save does not always result in a crash, however as I am more alert this will cause a crash although randomly.
I have a hard time troubleshooting as I cannot replicating issues, I rarely run into problems. Here's a screen capture of the memory use from today's job.
