Hello,
from time to time (only in rare cases) I get the situation where my 2023 can't open the color mangement settings anymore.
So when I choose Extras (some versions Tools?) > Color management then nothing happens at all. No windows opens, no error message.
The same is true when I choose this from the symbol directly (Color Management).
Then I can't change the color mode or profile for a document. When I save the cdr under another name or sometimes CorelDraw version then I can access color management again. Even if the objects are exactly the same in the document, so it is not about the content.
Unfortunately I just have overwritten my current bad example :), so can't upload it. The current file works great again, so there is no current error file.
But perhaps the issue is known, if yes what can I check or change if the Color Management is not working anymore for a certain file?
thank you
What version of 2023 do you have?
I have the CorelDraw 2023 Special Edition. I know it's limited somehow but it has the Color Management exactly as I need it and I think it's the same as in the full version.
I will try to reproduce this :).
I'm making an educated guess but there will be no solution to you color management corruption without major repairs. The subscription version or the one time purchase of the full version (Not SE) should not acr as your does.
Yes, perhaps I will find the issue one day, but at the moment it's only connected to one specific file name in the Windows system (icons.cdr). All other files I created since then are just fine and correctly working.
This error and also the other error where CorelDraw finds different outlines (althought there aren't) are not connected to my SE, but also appearing in the new 2024 full version.
I think for the outline error, that's just as it is and we have to assign the outline color (none) again.
About the color management error in the 2024 full version, 2023 SE and 2019 full version, I will make more research, perhaps I find the solution one day :).
I deleted my user > appdata > local > TEMP folder content (or let's say most of it) and the problem is not there anymore :). I just opened the icons.cdr (my original version) and now CorelDraw 2023 asks again about the profile and everything works again, also the color management menu item.
So CorelDraw saved something into the TEMP folder that was then later read by all other versions including the 2024 full version. Unfortunately I don't know which file exactly it was because there were hundreds.
If anybody finds time perhaps you could still look into the copied shape issue and if this is known yet.
You got lucky! Good for you. Is that copied shape issue in this or another post?
Yes, that is great. I can't reproduce the other issue and can't upload the file I talked about as there is always an error (zip file). I try later perhaps.
Send the file to a sharing site and send a link.
I can't really reproduce it :). Perhaps the next days.
I managed to upload it as a new question, I think it was about the file size, but this was not shown in all the error messages here while uploading.
So perhaps you find the other question.
But if you allow and as you mentioned it above: is there anything about the Microsoft WCS / perceptive that I should be aware of, or are the pros and cons of those engines more in the display on the monitor? I just want to export sometimes a PDF (DC, X1-a, X3) that shows correct color values of CMYK and RGB in Acrobat Pro and Illustrator. So far I am happy with it, only the PDF/X files and PDF DC CMYK are not shown the same CMYK values in Illustrator, but they are correct in Acrobat, CorelDraw and Affinity :).
PS: and by the way the warning of missing color profiles both in Corel and Adobe software is not something I understand. Corel says there is no profile when there is saved one with Illustrator and the other way, too. Known issue probably?
"Corel says there is no profile when there is saved one with Illustrator and the other way, too"
What do you mean Corel says there is no profile? If you tell CorelDRAW to warn you of mismatched or missing profiles when you open or import a file, it will do so if the format that you're importing supports color management, but it is not the default setting.
Like Adobe products the default setting is to use the embedded profile with RGB and CMYK, upon opening a file, upon importation it will convert to the RGB to the document profiles and assign the CMYK content to the document profile as default settings.
I question what format that you are saving the Illustrator files in?
EPS/PS does not support color management
AI should embed profiles, but I have not opened a native AI file in a while, I can test for you.
PDF does support color management
Yes if you open an *.ai file and have before chosen to embed a profile, then CorelDraw gives a warning that there is not, and the other direction as well. Again here, I just wanted to know if this is something known.
