I know how to add gradient, however, after adding gradient, I add a contour. (I wanted solid black contour) 2 days ago I was able to keep the contour solid black. Today when I do the same, the gradient effects the contour. Is there a setting I'm missing? I didn't break the contour apart either a few days ago.
That is set to black on mine as well.
I have no idea how you did yours but I added the gradient then the contour, this is CMYK.
Here is the same procedure as above but I used 7 steps for the contour, each the same color and width as the outline on the original object.
I believe what you are doing here, David, is that you are using a black outline that is wide enough to cover the fountain filled contour steps.Try making the outline thinner or put it behind the fill.Yes, it is a workaround but I doubt it is what Armalite Guy is looking for.In that case it would be easier to simply use an outline instead of Contour, wouldn't it?Actually, I think that's what I would do.Either use a thick outline and put it behind the fill ("Behind fill" in Outline Pen dialog and double the width to make it look correct) or use "Outside outline" for the outline position. Then, if/when needed, Convert Outline to Object (Ctrl+Shift+Q).
In my opinion Corel needs to put alot of thinking into making this work and that will be difficult. I'm betting they'd have to decide to make it work with the standard fill dialog, (I'm betting very costly) or build it into the contour fill commands.
In my opinion you could use an outline but if you had to have the look of the contour you could create an unfilled contour and an object filled with the fill of choice.
Break the contour apart and powerclip the fill. Too much work for my taste in any case, Corel needs to really properly update this feature.
Contour feels a bit outdated and needs some love. Why can't we apply two contours (inside + outside) to the same object for example?
I use contour in a semi-automated process to adjust tight bends on sign cans so I don't want them to turn a great idea into a great idea with CRAP IMPLMIINTATION like they did with the keep desktop objects on layer and the objects docker.
Now that could have been great if they could have gotten their head around the programming. I don't need them effing up contour so I counsel extreme caution.
