Hi Corelians!
I'm in need to convert my CorelDraw splines into arcs in preparation to export my artwork only as DXF or DWG format for a laser cutting machine XYZ format proprietary software to better control speed in my spline areas which helps with more clean controlled cuts. I'm told arcs helps much like driving a car. When you see a curve up ahead you prepare to slow down your speed to control your car better around that curve. This laser software recognizes the arcs in that manner.
Any help is deeply appreciated.
Aloha from Hawaii!
I have to convert CorelDRAW curves daily to lines & arcs for use in Autocad. Upload a sample CDR file and I'll create a DXF with arcs to verify it works for you.
Just curious. Whenever I import DXF files to Corel circles are made up of line segments (as seen in my "from this" image) instead of perfect circles
I wrote a macro to quickly convert them to a true Ellipse. Are you saying it has to be opposite when going from corel to Autocad?
What software is the DXF being exported from that you are importing to CorelDRAW?
AutoCAD spines should import into CorelDRAW as curves if the DXF is a later version than R12. R12 or earlier will convert spines to line segments. I send files from AutoCAD to CorelDRAW without issue.
It's been a while since I've dealt with any DXF files. Didn't think to ask the client what version. Good info to know though.
Hi Pogo,
I'm actually creating in CorelDraw my art, saving as an exported DXF from CorelDraw, then importing that DXF into a CAD program which accepts only DXF and / or DWG files.
Thanks Pogo!
I use LED Wizard as a converter. The standard edition is free at https://ledwizard8.com/pricing/
Export your art from CorelDRAW as .ai version 8. Import the .ai file into LED Wizard and export as AutoCAD dxf (polylines with arcs).
