Well once again Corel disappoints. Seriously, how long does this font manager have to be broken before it is fixed? I'm stuck having to use CorelDraw X7 because the font manager on X8 and now 2017 doesn't work. Why am I paying for a subscription? This is useless. Font manager hangs constantly. Worked once to look at my fonts folder and every time since has been "not responding" error. Now i'm unable to install Corel X7 because it says it's installed on too many computers. If Corel is going to track installs, how about tracking the machine ID so that it doesn't think its a new install. I've installed and uninstalled Corel X7, X8, and 2017 trying to get them to work. I've emailed support and they responded only to drop the whole thing all together. The last message from Corel was on 4/26. Does it really take that long to give a simple answer? I need to get this program working or I need to get Corel X7 to install so we can get back to work. Someone from Corel please respond, thank you.
I believe implementing a font management system not only integrated with the application but that also has the ability to use fonts in the application that are NOT installed in the OS as well as embedding fonts was a bad idea.
I only have 7,000 fonts and on a wireless network CFM can at times be an impediment to my work. On my wired network I have no issues but then again I turn of the ability to use fonts that are not installed in the OS in CorelDraw.
The Font Manager causes hangs on my work machine, I believe because it's on a domain with a roaming profile. It places the font database on the domain server across the network, not on the local machine and I believe this is what kills it. When I'm lucky it only takes a several long minutes to load a file. Depending on how I try to open it, CorelDraw X8 will just hang indefinitely until I force close it. The process manager suggests it's the Font Manager process that is causing the issue. But since there doesn't appear to be any way to disable its use in the main app or specify a local database cache, it looks like CorelDraw moving forward is not usable on domain connected computers. I came here hoping maybe this was fixed in the 2017 version but so far I don't see any evidence. I may downgrade my work machine to X7 so it can run.

I forget do you have CorelDRAW set to just see installed and system, fonts?
No difference, CFM engine is integrated with CorelDraw. You don't need to manage your fonts with it, but the best you can do is to (in the front drop down) set the filter for CorelDraw for installed and system fonts only.

We must understand that CFM is not a separate font manager, it's not a third-part software that the company buy and include on the suite. On the contrary, it's part of the suite, it's the font engine of the program. The CFM is only a separate viewer and manager, but if you didn't install it, you just don't have the separate interface, but anyway it's part of the program, it's what allows you to use font without install it, the database for auto-install fonts, the amount of available fonts (much bigger than previous versions), the filters for select fonts, and any other font feature. In short, there's no way to use CorelDRAW X8/2017 without font manager.
