I keep my fonts in a single folder on network attached storage, which I have mapped to several of my computers (design station, production CNC station, laptop) in my shop. I have to remove and add the folder from Corel Font Manager 2017 every day, for some reason this new version will not just keep looking at a folder, and has no refresh button. Its annoying that I have to do this every day to open and use files. I have 1600 font families in that folder, and would rather not install them all to these pcs (which is the point of the font manager). Why did it break? Bitstream was buggy, but it never failed this way. Or is this because Corel wants you to pay and download packs of fonts instead of using the ones you have already bought from other sources? I bought 2017 because of the graphics tablet add-ons (over-rated and buggy) and hoped memory issues were solved (they were not). Do we have to go class action to get actual fixes and working software?
Hey, new fun... left a drawing open overnight, come in next day, font manager shows zero fonts in folder, and all the fonts in corel are screwed up. Windows explorer shows the fonts in the folder, and was left on the folder all night as well. Tired of "upgrading" and paying to beta test.
You have the fonts on the network storage device correct? You do know all your filters are off correct?
Yes, In the image, the font folder is shown, and Corel font manager now showing no fonts in that same folder is shown. It seems to not be able to refresh, or just check to see if there was a change tot the font collection. The software checks against all fonts, why doesn't the so called font manager? My solution for now was to just copy those all to each machine. Im tired of playing games, and it will be a pain to install or copy fonts to each setup. Hopefully it remembers the fonts from a folder on the C drive, if not, I might just have to drive to corel headquarters and return the software with kinetic exuberance.
In you image the filters in the font manager are unchecked so it will not show any fonts. If that's not it I wonder if it's the hyphen in the drive name?
Hyphen in the drive name? Did they move back to windows 2000? Its unchecked, because it stopped seeing them. One minute, they were there. Next... poof. Gone. Nothing to filter. If I remove the folder, and search again (and it takes forever to scan) they all come back. Just have to do that every day, sometimes twice a day.
I wonder if it's the naming structure xxx-xxx the dash might be the problem. What brand storage device is this?
Just fishing for a reason now. It works perfectly on my network and the only difference is that I have my files an a networked computer not a network storage device.
The host is an Asus RT-AC88U, adn the naming structure has been no issue for any other version of Corel or Biitsream Font Manager. I managed IT for a graphics shop for 15 years before moving to my own biz, and every version of Corel seems to have left a feature out or broke something, going back to V8.
If that's X8 it's the same font manager
Corel Draw 8. Not X8, which would actually be 18. I think they changed the name so people didnt think that 16 or 17 was the 2016 or 2017 versions... or people still think X is catchy and "eXtreme".
