Night along the Hudson River

Hi Everybody,

Here's a night shot along the Hudson River.

CONFESSION: It was taken during the day. That saves a lot of time with using tripods - dealing with noise - etc. for pictures taken at night.
They also seem to look more like night pictures than pictures taken at night.

Did you desaturate the RGB?

Hi David,

I don't remember.
Sometimes I switch to the grayscale mode. Sometimes I use one of the RGB channels. Sometimes I use the L channel in Lab. Occasionally, I use Channel Mixer.
Usually, desaturating in RGB does not work as well.

Thanks Phil, I use desaturated RGB for B&W ink jet prints as it produces a better DMAX but it requires an extremely good gray balanced media profile.
