I have a nasty problem: a file I've worked on previously now crashes when I try to open it. I haven't touched it for a couple of months, then everything was fine. Doesn't matter if I open the file or the autobackup, I get:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: CorelDRW.exe Application Version: 14.0.0.701 Application Timestamp: 49278263 Fault Module Name: StackHash_20ea Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385 Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdadb Exception Code: c0000374 Exception Offset: 000c283b OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1044 Additional Information 1: 20ea Additional Information 2: 20eaf4da4c882b488dec361e4b7875f5 Additional Information 3: 9b97 Additional Information 4: 9b979871724a1847d3a946f3bae2126a
This makes me a bit nervous, as I have hundreds of .cdr files around since it is my preferred tool for designing...anyone got a clue?
I'm running windows 7, the latest x4 patches all in effect, no other probs with Corel, just this file (this far...)
This now seems to happen to a lot of my files. I cannot find a common reason yet. Some files open ok, others crash. This is an absolutely critical problem. I've shut down all uneccessary apps and services, no luck... I guess I'll just have to resort to A****.. :(

Whew thanks I owe you a large beer! This got the files open again, of course now I have to reconfigure my workspace, but that's a small price to pay..
Anyway, a few days ago, while working in split mode on a projector (not with these files) my Corel toolbars started acting weird (a few pixels too tall, extending outside my desktop even after disconnecting the projector etc). So something in Corel config files could be corrupted?
I am clinging on to Corel for dear life; I've used it for aeons, and tried to understand the Adobe products, but they are simply not user-friendly, so I'm a die-hard fan as long as I'm allowed to be the odd tree in the forest of bloat :)

Glad to help. I have had to do this, perhaps 3 times in 10 years. Not a big deal, since I backup my workspace, which covers most of my environment. But I have to re-assign shortcut keys to some macros and change a few defaults like disabling auto-center to powerclip.

This has happened to me also. I suspect potentially 2 things: since workspaces are now defined by XML,
I don't see the benefit of XML over INI, but it seems we must accept it...

Many programs have added tons of code, but not tons of features to "relatively correspond". What I mean... ten years back, programs seemed to offer lots of productivity with much smaller install base, and worked OK using very little RAM and CPU.
