How to make 3D photos?

Remember those red-blue 3D glasses you use to view 3D photos?

Perfect! How do you create such photos with Corel PhotoPaint?

Thank you very much!

  • HI.

    Very interesting idea.

Just a quick search turned up these:

    http://www.wikihow.com/Make-3D-Photos

    http://www.opentutorial.com/Make_3d_images

    http://www.3djournal.com/001/artic2.php

Maybe start with a simple one color graphic. Create 2 duplicates of it and adjust color and transparency. Move them to back. Put on glasses and adjust position of the duplicates. Could it be this easy...probably not.

    Have fun!

    • Thanks for your reply.

It is not easy. I tried to copy an image (two layers) and removed from one image the color green, set transparency to 50%, and moved the image a little bit to the left. Then the workspace looks like a 3D image, but it is not working with my red-blue glasses. Sad

We need a filter or make more study hours... suggestions are welcome!

      • Hi Boah,

in one of those links John posted I think there is a tutorial and a free program you can download called Anaglyph Maker 1.08. I stumbled upon it by accident a few days ago and downloaded the free program and then when I read your post I forgot where I had seen it. I am pretty sure it was the Wiki link (I haven't gone back to check).

You really need two images which have been photographed from slightly different positions, approx 4" or 5" apart. This imitates what each of our eyes see. The free program puts the red and blue outlines on the respective images which gives the 3D effect with your glasses.

There is a different feature in PP you may wish to experiment with for greyscale results only and without glasses. Remember those books you could buy with images in them that appeared to be a bunch of dots or patterns? You stared at the images and focussed somewhere behind them and then a 3D image would appear. Well PP can produce these images, but you have to choose really basic images without simple backgrounds. You will find the feature in Effects>Noise>3D Stereo Noise. I haven't really played with these, but I might do now that it has been raised.

        Best regards,
        Brian.

        • Hey Brian.

How about a PP macro for automatically making 3D images from the 2 photos. Possible?
