Working my way through this tutorial... http://www.corel.com/content/pdf/cdpsx5/tutorials/en/Creating_a_SiteStyle.pdf
in step 5, I can't seem to make the "default properties" box appear. The same is true of Step 7 -- Button Properties, and Step 11 -- Page Background Properties.
I don't have the file called Style.zip in my installation -- should that have come with the program?
Sorry for the rookie questions...
Steve
I'm quite dissappointed in this program (Corel Website Creator X5).
I've managed to create and publish a simple site, but there just doesn't seem to be any way to edit the style. The 'properties' boxes simply won't appear.
You have to pay Corel for support. But based on the quality of this program, I'll probably 'ditch' it, chalk it up to an expensive learning opportunity, and go to one of the better established programs. After 2 decades of using Corel Draw, I assumed the company would be a bit more interested in helping their clients be successful.
Hi Steve !
I guess where all alone in here. I asked a few questions at the beginning and the only one to answer was Turtle...
To find the properties panel try pressing on F3 or go to View and select "Property Inspector"
To edit the styles select the STYLES icon. This will open the Style menu ....Create a new one.
I asked this question, so there is an answer somewhere in all the few messages below this one.
I'll be looking
Hi Ottawa,
Thanks for your note and suggestions...
I just tried F3 and 'Property Inspector' -- no luck. I am able to generate a number of different 'properties' boxes, but not the Stye 'default', 'button', nor 'page background' properties. When in the 'Active SiteSytles' tree, if any subdirectories are selected, and F3 pushed, the only box generated is 'Styles Properties' which contains 3 lines:
Thats it...
I am managing to create a site, but everything has to be done individually from scatch, because the various style subdirectories can't be edited... I have created a new Style for this site, copied from another that is very close to what I want. Very frustrating...
Yes, Turtle was my inspiration to buy this program, based on a question I asked him a couple of months ago. I see he posted yesterday to a non-Corel Website Creator question. My sense is that he's a volunteer at this rather than a Corel employee? Could be wrong...
Thanks again for trying to help....

It is easier to duplicate an existing style then modify the dup, rather than to building one from scratch (at least until you understand the process)
this tutorial will explain how to dup a style: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=117
The properties palettes are flyouts which by default should be on the right of the work area and denoted as "tabs" You can detach them, stack them, and use them as floating palettes: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/assets/multimedia/dockingPalettes/
If you are using Windows 7 or Vista you should have the program (exe file) set to run with admin rights and use JRE 1.6: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4037
On a last note. I am a user just like you are, not an employee of either Corel or NetO. I do own and run gotFusion.com though. In the past I did tier 3 support for NetO as an outside contractor through the gotFusion company.
I should stop into this form on a more regular basis. I do not have a copy of the Corel version (Website Creator X5) so some of my answers may be off a little as the Corel product is a little different then the NetO version 11 product (not in function but in some of the features)
Turtle,
Thanks, that helped a lot. I threw out my old 'first attempt' site to date, and uninstalled/reinstalled the program; this time choosing the 'run as admin' option. About 15 minutes, but well worth it. Lo and behold, there are the missing properties boxes. I've duped an existing style, have started successfully modifying it. I'm away to the races -- may pester you with another question or two before I get this thing publishable.
Thanks again....
You might want to go over this tutorial on how to set up a site (start a site project). It will answer most of your "first time" questions: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4069
