We have just purchased X6 and are having difficulty editing a bitmap. Its unable to be selected.
After reading your posts here we have tried the following which we find quite annoying for a new program.
Surely this is something simple we have missed. All we have done is installed the X6 and run the program , clicked on a bitmap and nothing ??? This has really left a bad experience especially when we just purchased this program and it cant even edit an image. The customer support was terrible , I had to ring back becasue the person couldnt hear me about 8 times. It was only a search on the web that led me here.
I dont think we will be recommending corel to anyone soon. Hopefully someone can help us.
When you say editing, what are you trying to do? Change colors, convert it into a vector artwork, delete sections, etc...?
It says in the manual, that if you want to edit a bitmap in corel, selct the bitmap then select the edit bitmap button , but the edit bitmap button is not selectable. It says by selecting this you cen edit in Photo Paint , easy but doesnt work.

That sounds like the instruction for editing a bitmap that is part of a CorelDraw document. But I think either you're not editing a CorelDraw document at the time, or the object you've selected is not actually a bitmap.
The image is a JPG imported in , when I select it I am unable to edit with edit bitmap menu ?

What does it display at the bottom of the screen when you select the image? It should be something like dbb (RGB) on Layer 1 400 x 400 dpi.
Also if you could compare the display in the object manager ...
Can you open photopaint and check again that the Associate panel shows CPT as ticked.
I've just tested it here, and not having CPT ticked will cause Edit Bitmap to remain greyed when a bitmap is selected, because without the CPT association CorelDraw presumes that no program is able to edit it.
Haleuluah ! Finally someone else has the same problem as we do.
We have CorelDRAW X3 / X4 / X5 and X6 all installed. And legal by the way. We are a major television production house in Australia and ever since we installed X6 every version of CorelDRAW does not allow us to edit a bitmap. We have a number of computers and this has happened on ALL computers, X3/4/5 were all running perfectly, not one issue. We have tried , ticked and checked the associations in PP in all versions, makes no difference.
We have "repaired" the installation in control panel which allows us to edit a bitmap for two or three files then the association disappears and the edit bitmap goes to greyed out. We have uninstalled X6 and now gone back to X5 where it works perfectly.
We have a million dollor production facilities and we showcase our work with Corel but this lates version of X6 seems to have issues. Weve gone back to X5 and its back to perfection.

Question for you and or the original poster. When you double click on a bitmap/cpt image, does it open Photopaint? We had a problem with them staying connected, but once we fixed the file association in windows, the problem was resolved for good. It was stupid to have to do, but I've run into that problem a few times now. This was before windows 7 at least.
