I got calls from 3 of the DRAW users that some of the fonts are not displaying correctly since they have updated their Windows today. I have not yet connected my laptop to internet. Shall check it and try to identify the culprit update. Any light on this is appreciated.
Few fonts known for not displaying correctly since today
Diavlo_MEDIUM_II_37.otf and its family with light, black etc.Myriaid PRO
I can confirm this font issue also on both 32 bit and 64 bit CorelDRAW X6 versions. I have a screenshot of all Windows Updates that were supposed to be completed on my machines. KB2753842 is in the list...haven't tried to install the rest of the updates but now I will and omit the others.
Glad others are reporting on this issue. Running System Restore will get your machine back to normal as long as you have it running and enough restore points to choose from.
My culprit font was the Birch Standard Open Type font...literally disappeared from my files, that means not visible in outline mode - kapoof! Gone...Also, when typing out a new sentence in that font it would display briefly until I clicked off of it and then it would disappear also.
I have now completed all the rest of the updates in this list and verified both 32bit and 64bit CorelDRAW versions and indeed it is KB2753842 since that was the only update I did not install on either machine.

I too have been using CDR for many years -- since version 4. My rule of thumb is never to upgrade to a new version of CDR until the first service pack has been released. And even then, proceed cautiously. X3 had been very stable for me, and I kept using it without upgrading. Tried X5 and went right back to X3. Wasn't until I bought a new computer and upgraded to Win7 that I upgraded to X6.

With everything I read, X6 even with patch 6.2 is a risky bet. I use X5 and it's terrible. It crashes every day. X3 to me was the last incredibly stable version.
Please help! I've uninstalled the update yesterday, but as soon as I shut down, Windows (7) automatically installed it again!!! How can I hide it? Please, easy steps needed!

EDIT: The above (and most of this thread) no longer applies. Microsoft updated the defective KB long ago. The KB currently delivered by Windows Update no longer has the problem that this thread relates to.

Click on the "important" updates which should list them individually Right click on the unwanted KB and select "Hide Update".
Does this require that one turn off the automatic updates as well, or does hiding the update prevent its installation if automatic updates are turned on?
There should be no need to permanently turn off automatic updates. Once the update is hidden, it will not reinstall until you remove it from the hidden list.
There is however a theoretical possibility that the update might reinstall itself before you have a chance to hide it. I think its unlikely if you go to hide it soon after the reboot, but to be certain you could temporarily turn updates off, and then back on once you have successfully hidden the unwanted KB.
Hi All
I had problems uninstalling this update on my Windows 7 machine as it was not shown in the list in the Uninstall Programme - Windows Updates. My work around used the cmd.exe I did the following to get it to uninstall
Run cmd.exe with elevated previlliges (right click on cmd.exe and choose "run as administrator") and type:wusa /uninstall /kb:2753842and then appear uninstaller..
I hope that helps other users that are having problems
AAAAAAAAAAAARRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
WHY? WHY? WHY?.....
Yesterday I changed 30 pages with text with onother font because of this problem...
Thanks god the uninstalling this 2753842 update solved the problem!
This is of little consultation, but there was aa large MMORPG that updated its gaming files.
Part of the update was to install files and delete old ones. Someone accidentally changed the file to be deleted, to delete the boot.ini files on Windows XP machines. Basically, thousands of people then "updated the game," then, had to reinstall windows.
