Hi all,
We are a small print company, located in Bursa, Turkey, and yesterday we upgraded to CorelDraw X6. Since yesterday we have been struggling with thumbnail previews under Windows 7 - the feature we loved and got well accustomed to. Earlier we have used X3 version with this preview feature, but with X6 it seems no longer to work. We have checked the related windows directories as well as the CorelDraw Shell Extension - all things (dlls and exes) look just fine in their places and installed but still we cannot get the thumbnail preview work.
Any help or workound would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hello bursayigit; make sure you have the file type you want to have opened with CorelDRAW selected in The CorelDRAW setup as per Screen Shot, You will also need to select the CDR files in Windows setup for your CDR files.

That's odd. When I go to Filters>Associate, CDR is unchecked. If I check it, close the dialogue box, reopen, it's unchecked again.
I've never had thumbnail previews since day one with Draw X6. Shell is correct version.

Windows works in mysterious ways and its not even totally essential for that box to be checked. Mine isn't, but I still get previews and I still get CDR files opening in CorelDraw when I double click them in explorer.
Not staying checked is slightly curious -- it makes me suspect that some other program is stealing the association. But it could just be that your system is somehow configured to prevent you changing associations.
In windows 7 there is a setting in control panel > system > advanced > settings > visual effects > show thumbnails instead of icons. That also makes no difference as far as I can see, because I also get thumbnails even without that -- though that could be because the thumbnails are already cached.
