I have come across a problem with SVG export and I cannot find a solution to it.
We need to export corel design templates to SVG, but our design templates may contain bitmap images.
I know SVG is meant for vector graphics and etc, however this is the requirement we have to deal with.
So, if a corel file has a bitmap, in SVG it comes pretty OK in quality. However, if that image has a transparent background - after SVG export image becomes very bad. I am using PNG.
I have attached the file, that has a problem. Original bitmap was perfect in quality, so this is a clear exporting issue. In addition, if I add a white background to my bitmap - it gets exported well.
Did anyone face this problem before?
For that particular image, I would do an outline trace on the character to make it into a vector object. But that solution would not work for other types of bitmap.
What was the resolution of your image? I suspect it is below 96dpi at the final size.

Using a 96dpi test image (an ellipse), I see no obvious difference with or without a background.

The image (the letter 'a') is 39 dpi.
Try this one...Not made in CD, but CD output is identical from other SVG work I have done (just already using something else at the moment).
yeah, same happens in X4. Not sure why anyone would absolutely ask for only an svg.

I see it has an <image> tag and bitmap has its binary form.
Oops. I mis-spoke.
I took a look at some CD SVG files I have produced in the past and I hadn't used bitmaps...I used text converted to curves. The few I have done with embedded bitmaps were all done in Xara Designer Pro. The SVG I produced for my attachment was done in XDP as I was using it at the time. I was wrong about CD's embedded bitmaps in SVG, sorry.
I think the main issue is that CD's convert to bitmap sort of sucks.
