Flipping Pages

PgUp and PgDn keys are mapped to text frame navigation commands in the text editing state (Move Up 1 Frame / Move Down 1 Frame). If you had linked paragraph frames, you would be able to use the PgUp / PgDn keys to navigate through the frames.

That said, you can map PgUp/PgDn to Previous Page and Next Page commands in Tools, Customization, Commands instead, if you wish. You will need to remove the shortcut from the text navigation commands, then map them to the Previous Page / Next Page commands in the Text Editing shortcut key table.

Steps:
In Tools, Customization, Commands, locate 'Move Up 1 Frame' or 'Move Down 1 Frame' in the commands the list (under Text), select the Shortcut Keys tab, choose Text Editing from the 'Shortcut Key Table' droplist. You will see PgUp / PgDn in the current shortcut keys field. Select the shortcut and hit 'Delete'. Repeat for both commands. Then, locate the Previous Page / Next Page commands (in Layout), select the Shortcut Keys tab, choose Text Editing from the Shortcut Key Table' droplist and assign the PgUp / PgDn shortcut key. Repeat for both commands.

Great answer Sharon, but I was in error for my question (my up/down page buttons work just fine) -- what I should have asked was, why is it that I can't add a page while the text tool is still selected.

I did a test and it works fine here... I can add page, change page, go to to the first/las page, etc using the Text tool, and even with some text selected
