I want to know how to create a file to cut from a photo. i have a pictures of objects that i want to convert to a cut file almost like a stencil file so that it is cut out of the background piece and you can tell what you are looking at by the contour lines and outline lines that are cut. i know how to convert to a vector file, but i want minimal lines in the drawing.
experiment with trace. Don't be surprised if you find it'll still take a lot of manual tweaking lines and such.
I usually use GIMP for this kind of work. Somehow create selection that contains your shape. Use Selection to Curve tool and then export the curve to a SVG file. Then just import SVG to Corel and clean up the shape, using your photo as a background image.
Depending on the image and what you want you could just use a piwerclip.
Could you upload an example as a CDR - inside a ZIP?
Honestly?, seek out a copy of CorelTrace v12. I still use it at least once a week and it works very well for monochrome bitmaps and outline trace.
