Big case

please can any one help me, when i finish any design and try to saving to PSD extension, the size of design become too large, can you lead me how to convert it to can save in small size. thx

  • Well the PSD format is raster and known to be large.

      • if you need a smaller file size, maybe you can use use TIF instead, that allows to use LZW file compression (that doesn't cause damage to the content).
just a side note, you're posting under Corel Connect section, I believe it should be under PhotoPaint section
        • Nice suggestion. I have also had great results saving as .tif then zipping the file. In the case of an RGB tiffs I have seen the files compress to 1/10 their original size.

The TIF file allows to include internal file compression, such as LZW or ZIP, both algorithms doesn't cause damage to the file content. If you save as JPG, the file size is smaller, but JPG introduce "artifacts" each time you save, then the quality of the image decreases. Also, JPG doesn't allows transparent background, layers, etc btw it's good for internet of for send a proof

        • Hi Mido,
How large is "too large" ?
Did you design it in DRAW or Photopaint.
More importantly, are you trying to preserve layers and layer masks from a design in Photopaint. If so, you have no choice but to save in .cpt or .psd.
I save in both formats. Storage is cheap. The 7 TByte Seagate external hard drive is under $200.

PS: If you are posting on the internet and are squeezed for size, don't forget the JPEG format. It's an amazingly rugged file format.
