Occasionally a Corel employee would at least make an unofficial response to questions/concerns. However, it appears they have mostly gone silent. Have they been told to stop interacting with customers? Have they given up?I know they are not working on bug fixes as most bugs acknowledged over the past year have been ignored. I truly hope that X8 fixes bugs more than offering even more useless, or worse buggy, new "features".
Some bugs like the CYMK vs. RGB picker debacle in fountain fills should never have gone out in the first place. Let alone survived several updates and patches.

Phil I don't know the man on a personal level but I've had business dealings with Corel before and after his arrival.
I can say that when he arrived Corel as a company and as a software it was a mess. He helped organized a team and provide direction that has placed The CorelDraw Graphics Suite as the only real option to Adobe in terms of core technical requirements for professionals, ON A GLOBAL LEVEL. Have all the junk that was acquired under the Cowpland days been removed? No but all the wayward haphazard behavior in terms of adding associations and removing have gone away.
Does Gerard have full control over what the corporation does ? No. The corporate plan is not his domain, I'm sure he has his level of input, but I can tell you that no only does Gerard listen, he acts.
Many features that have realigned Corel toward the professional large/grand format printing, professional cartoon illustrations as well as other markets are all due to his input. The coordination between Corel software has not progressed as quickly as I would like but now we have a movement toward the Video Studio, PaintShop Pro, AfterShot Pro, Painter CorelDraw Graphics Suite and I'm sure he has his hand on this.
Handing over the CPT specification would most likely not be his call and I would advise against it. In my opinion Corel should do more to protect the brand not hand over things to nothing companies.
You're way off base and WAY OUT OF LINE, as usual.
