Sometimes I'll get this message when I try to close a file:
"Some of the documents could not be closed, because tasks are being performed in the background." This on a file that's been saved already, nothing else is being done to it, there are no other files open - but IT WON'T LET ME CLOSE THE DANG THING. I have to force-close the entire application. See the screenshot. Anyone else have this happen?
The image is a bit small, but I think I can see the background tasks icon showing on that screen:
You need to click on that icon and investigate why it is still showing.
See also http://community.coreldraw.com/forums/t/46611.aspx for another instance of a background tasks problem.
Thanks, Harry. This is what I get when I click that icon (and the document's "SAVE" icon on the toolbar is greyed out). Looks like it's the same issue as what was reported in the link you sent. Problem is it NEVER completes, so the document never closes unless forced to.
No, the options to perform the timed backup and the backup on save will both happen exactly the same. All that will change is that your own saves will happen in the foreground, so you will need to wait until they are complete before doing anything else on the file.
Thanks, Harry, I'll give that a try and see if it helps!
I have had problems getting CorelDraw X7 to close at all sometimes...the "x" in the top right corner won't work, the file menu close will not work, right clicking on the task bar and selecting close won't work...no audio feedback from Windows when clicking on anything (like a default ding noise), nothing works - that's not to say it's frozen because you can continue to draw, edit, etc. But you can't close the program. The only way to exit CorelDraw X7 is using the Windows Task Manager and force closing it. This has happened twice now in the last week. Different files. I'm not too worried yet but I'll keep an eye on it.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit with 8GB Ram and the files are not very complex. Also running the latest version of CorelDraw X7.
Did you click on the background tasks icon and try cancelling the supposedly-incomplete save operation?
The workaround I have is to save the unclosable document somewhere else AFTER you disable background tasks. That way you don't lose your work. Try that next time if it's too late.
