I've spent many hours trying to find a x7 digital download in UK. I'm after a student or education edition (for my wife). It seems it's impossible to get.
On Corel UK site, there are only 4 links to education re-sellers. Out of those, one link no longer lists the Corel Suite, one link doesn't work, one re-seller only does volume subscriptions and the only working one only does boxed software, costing £187.
Also tried Amazon. On US amazon, education edition costs in the range of $65 and is available as a download. But you need a US billing address to use it. On Amazon UK, only x6 can be found and even that costs £80 or more. Not to mention it only comes in a box.
I don't want a boxed edition since it will be installed on a Surface Pro 3 (no dvd drive). I don't need the full edition because it is not for commercial use.
Why is it so hard (impossible) to buy a digital edition outside of US? Why does the older version cost multiples of the US price? Is it really surprising why people pirate software? From what I heard and read, it's even harder to get in other parts of Europe.
Not to mention that Corel website has very limited options for contacting support. Only phone numbers which nobody answers during a weekend. No way to get in touch via email. Really? What year is this again? Do I need to post a letter? All this lack of ways of contacting Corel could leave one very wary of after sales support.
If I can't find a digital copy, I guess I'll need to turn to Adobe.
I would try Corel site

The Home and Student version of X7 was only released a few days ago. http://community.coreldraw.com/blogs/gerard/archive/2014/08/27/introducing-coreldraw-home-amp-student-suite-x7.aspx. Though I would have expected Amazon to know about this in advance. They usually do.
Be careful not to buy the confusingly-misnamed H&S 2014. That's X6 (ie, its the 2012 edition with a few patches) and not X7 (the only "truthful" 2014 product).
Thanks for that Harry, I thought it would have been out for a while.
Thanks for the warning about versions, I agree, the naming isn't very helpful.
Thanks Mek,
Stupid of me but I never noticed the currency option to the top right. Can this version be used in UK then? It's not mentioned anywhere but I'm guessing some sort of proof has to be provided for student status?
At top left, you will find a country dropdown. Select UK from that and then go to http://www.coreldraw.com/gb/product/home-student/. You should then see pricing in pounds.
No student proof is needed -- it is also legal for home use but not allowed to be used for commercial work and there are functional limitations that would make it inappropriate for most professional use.
Many thanks! Can confirm the page is showing up correctly.
Does any side-by-side comparison between Home & Student / Education Edition / Full edition exist? I do remember reading some functionality complaints for x6 version on Amazon regarding Home & Student version.
Thanks,
The X6 comparison hides behind this image:

Thanks again Harry. My wife's trial is just running out and we'll be buying the home & student edition in a few days.
