X7 will not load after installing update 4. Something about fonts missing... Anyone else having issues? Already contacted tech support. Uninstalling X7 and reinstall will get it working again. Tried installing update 4 again and back to the same thing. I will be uninstalling and installing again and not updating until I hear back from tech support.
"Jeremy, if you still have Update 4 installed, are you getting an error message when trying to load CorelDRAW or Corel PHOTO-PAINT now? If so, can you post a screenshot?"
After uninstalling and reinstalling I get the error message after X7 has started. I have a blank canvas in front of me ready to go to work. I start working on a project and within a minute or so BAM, "CorelDraw X7(64bit) has stopped working" pops up and then the program closes.
"Also, what version did you have installed prior to installing Update 4? It may be helpful to know which update you applied the latest update to."
It was originally version 17.3.whatever? I am a subscription member and keep up with the latest and greatest. After uninstall/reinstall it is 17.1.0.572.
I know it is something with the update. It works just fine as 17.1 and had worked just fine prior to the update.
I will try renaming the files and report back.
"(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\CorelDRAW\17.0 to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\CorelDRAW\17.0_old"
I am a designer not an IT guy, [;)] that's a little over my head..
Hello Jeremy,
I suspect I know what your problem is or at least the source of it. I'm going to help you fix it.
Stop trying to install and uninstall anything : it will not fix it if it is related to what I'm thinking.
Your problem is specific to your computer so we need to find out what is going on in order to help others who might run into a similar situation.
1) ensure that you have update 4 installed.
2) make sure no corel app are running.
3) If "Corel Font Service" is running : kill that process now : this is important.
4) Now, go in your folder AppData folder. ex.: "C:\Users\claudep\AppData\Roaming\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X7\FontDatabase"
5) Delete all files in the folder "FontDatabase"
6) Question : do you have a lot of fonts installed?
7) If you do not have a lot of fonts installed, you wont have time to do the next step but try anyway.
8) Now, as quickly as possible : Launch draw, create a new document, switch to the text tool and drop down the font list. You should see the string : "Analysing fonts..."
9) Keep it open like that and wait for it to crash. Try to make note of the % it reached.
10) Now go back in your FontDatabase Folder and post here the 3 files that will be in there.
Most likely, you have a font, or a lack of a font, that is causing the FontDatabase generation code to crash. We have never seen this here before we shipped but it is a possibility.
If that is the case, with those files, I should be able to tell you exactly which font is the culprit so that you can uninstall it until we fix the issue.
