Hi Everybody,-- ONCE AGAIN. --- Missing thumbnails have been a chronic problem for some of us for the last ten years. It's still going on after ten years despite X7.4 and a promise to convene the staff to look into it.-- I could not see CPT, CDR, or CMX thumbnails in Windows Explorer after installing X7.4. Mystic Thumbs cured the CDR thumbnails problem. I cured the CPT and CMX problem by sending X7 to the garbage can and reinstalling X6.-- Mystic Thumbs makes thumbnails for over one hundred file types. That includes Corel's PaintShopPro's "pspimage" files. They have said that they can do the same for CPT files. They only require information on the CPT file structure from Corel.-- Gerard has refused point blank to send information to Mystic Thumbs about Corel 's CDGS file structures. The reason, "It's proprietary." Yet everyone else in the universe publishes information on their file structures. That includes Corel's PaintShopPro's "pspimage" image format.-- Gerard has been completely irrational about this problem for the last ten years. Would you know who to complain to at Corel in order to get past Gerard. Phil

Not. That's your wong point of view. It's not true that ONLY be cured by by Mystic Thumbs. Along the years, most users could solve it by several ways. Moreover, Mystic Thumbs is not a cure, only a workaround. Thumbnails should be showed on Windows Explorer, not on a third-part program. If you need to install other program for see the thumbnails, it's not a solution. CorelConnect already do exactly the same than Mystic Thumbs, and more than it, since ir allows to integrate
Phil1923 said: I'm hardly the only one who is complaining about the problem. Are you going to silence everybody who complains about it.
You're the only I know who use Mystic Thumbs, and claims to include Mystic Thumbs as a replacement for Windows thumbnails.
Phil1923 said:I'm not interested in Connect.
OK, that's your decision. You have the solution, but you don 't want to use it. You prefer that all the entire company changes becuase you don't want to change.
Phil1923 said:I did not say that Mystic Thumbs was the only solution. I said that it was the major fixer-upper.
Please, read this part:
btw the point is not against you, it's about to find a solution. Your problem is a conflict between CorelDRAW and Windows Explorer That's all. Even if Mystic Thumbs shows thumbnails. that doesn't fix the problem between CorelDRAW and Windows Explorer. Still is not possible to view thumbnails on Windows Explorer and force all users to install and use Mystic Thumbs. Maybe you like this program, but it's not the solution to force all other user to use Mystic Thumbs instead to use Windows Explorer. The only solution should be a just a solution of the problem.
Phil1923 said:Why do you keep bringing up CONNECT as a solution. What makes you think that it will show missing thumbnails if they do not appear in Windows Explorer.
Because did the same job of Mystic Thumbs and I didn't heard anybody that can't show the CorelDRAW or CTP thumbnails
Phil1923 said:Why do you excuse everything that Corel does. It would be better if you talked to your friends at Corel and found out why they allowed missing thumbnails to be a festering problem for over ten years. When you find out, let us know.
I guess I can give that image, but it is not. If I were blind in relation to the company, there would form part of a team that finds and reports errors or a team that provides ideas and suggestions. If I believed that everything works well, there I wouldn't spend part of my time helping people solve problems. Just I do not share your point of view. Furthermore, I always remove thumbnails in Windows Explorer, selecting the option View as List
Phil1923 said:I like PhotoPaint a lot better than either Photoshop or PaintshopPro. However, my mind is picture oriented. For instance, I can't understand anything at all on color management until my mind inserts the words into that excellent diagram that came with earlier versions of Photopaint. Thus, I need CPT thumbnails to even pick out a picture to post.
I am not a photographer, and fortunately I know how ignorant I am on some issues. I admire your ability to work with images in RGB, my training has been in CMYK, so I must be a bit more limited. When I see a color, I try to deduce its composition in CMYK values.
Some time ago my wife found an interesting offer in a brochure and she brought it to show me. She asked: "What do you think about this?" I looked at the brochure for a moment and replied: "Too much Magenta". I don't understand why she was angry.
Phil1923 said:WHAT IS YOUR PROPOSAL to get CPT thumbnails for everybody.
The solution is not in my hands, I really think it depends more on Microsoft than anything else. I think Corel technicians can develop an alternative solution. For example, currently the bitmap thumbnails are included in the file. Maybe a good idea is to use a vector file instead of bitmap images. In the coming months, Corel must develop compatibility with Windows 10 (including having to mandatory work on thumbnails) and that's a great opportunity. But if Windows 10 does not support any change, maybe Corel leave everything as is and not change anything. In any case, although Corel don't use vector thumbnails and the change is minimal, in these months we will have a unique opportunity to try to find a solution to this issue. From my point of view, add a program to view thumbnails from that program alone would not be a real solution. It would be like a patch.
