less curve points in drawings - automatic

Does anyone know a way to fix the curve points surplus so I can better export for CAD cutting machines?

When I trace a photo I want, most curves are more complicated than needed, maybe you know a macro or something to simplify the curves...less points mean less thinking time for the cutting machines...less breakdowns, etc.

Hi, what file format you are using to get the data to the cutter? Are you using DXF, EPS, PDF.... DXF export is not good out fo Draw unless you use a special tool like DXFTool - standard or pro version. I use EPS myself.

Hello! Sorry for the late reply.. I need dxf for the cutter and yes, the conversion is painstaking...
A traced tree silhouette, for example, (and my current task) is a million curve points, converted into spline in dxf...and spline to polyline is another million. Maybe i'm doing something wrong or maybe that's the way it's supposed to be...is there a faster way to simplify the conversion? Simpler dxf, that's what I need :)

Geogiana.

An automatic trace is, in my opinion, never good enough so you can probably use "Reduce nodes" like Ariel suggested, and the curves will most likely not be any worse than they were after the trace.
Keep an eye on it though, sometimes Reduce nodes can be a bit too helpful. :-)
