I use X7, and have for years. I had installed the trial version of 2018 to check it out. I'll eventually get it, but for now uninstalled and am back to X7. Ever since, I don't get thumbnail previews anymore, just the generic Corel icon. I checked all the usual suspects ("show icons" in options, uninstalled/reinstalled shell extension, etc) but it still doesn't show. Any suggestions?
Thank you All!
You might look at this: Thumbnails Not Showing in Windows Explorer After Installing CDGS X6/X7/X8/Versions 2017 & 2018.
I don't know if you have already tried that, but in case you haven't, it's one more thing to try.
Thank you, but I have tried that. The version shell that shows is 20.someodd.someodd.

"Version 20" is CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2018.
Perhaps uninstall that, then do a "repair install" of X7 to try to get the shell extension from X7 in place?
Hmmm... I have uninstalled it 3 times while trying to fix this, and have been doing the reinstall from the X7 program file... Did the trial of 2018 cause a change in the X7 folder?
The trial of 2018 version is stored on a separate folder, so it doesn't modidy the X7 content, only could change shared folder (such as the thumbnails). One of the most common and easy way to restore it is to select a CDR file on Windows, choose "open with..." with the secondary mouse button, but don't select any progra, choose "use other.." instead. Then, choose CorelDRAW (the version you want to use as default) and enable the option "use this program as default"
