Please help a newbie

Please I am new to corel draw and designs generally. Just started learning corel. I actually made a logo and I know so many things are wrong. Its actually supposed to be a logo for a boutique. please i need your advice and help. thanks a lot..

  • Can't comment on what you cannot see<G>. To to youTube and search coreldraw tutorials, it's loaded. You can also post a small image of what you did so we can see it.
    • I can't delete this post now, but I'm editing it to show my remorse. [:$] My apologies for thinking your post was spam.

      • I am so sorry for that. I had a problem with my Laptop so i used a Nokia phone of a very low specs. Unfortunately, the phone i used couldn't access the corel draw website properly. I tried deleting the posts too but the posts just wont delete.

Now i just had to do this through my PC. As for the age issue i was also trying to update my profile the same day but i later got frustrated (due to the website not loading properly) and had to drop it. Now im on PC so i will correct that now. thanks for pointing those out. ( I didn't even know i had 1901) . thanks
        • What would you like advice on, Michael?

Overall, I kinda like the ethereal look of the dress and shoes without a human in them. Enough shape to suggest form without the distraction of getting hung up on the looks of a human.

Serif fonts like this always speak of class. I like the distinction of the beginning letters of the name.

          Overall, not bad at all.

          Mike
          • no problem. thanks. i appreciate the comment. if not for that your comment, i wont know the wrong profile update issue. . thanks. but still dont mind if u got any help advice or any adjustment concerning the logo. thanks
            • @mike Actually its my first logo and corel draw is  my first graphics app. ive seen so many  awesome designs and i read so much on logos  before trying this out. SO on looking at this one, it seems like something is wrong. thanks for the encouragement mike(Really needed that).

what i need advice on is this. On lookin through the logo, is there anything i can add to it or is there anything im doing wrong.(seems like there is none from your comment)...........if None, can i just go ahead and add colours and hoping it wont look horrible when i do that. and i will also appreciate any tip concerning colors. thanks a lot

            • thanks bob. I had problems with the device i used to post on this forum earlier on so i couldnt post pictures. now ive posted it. thanks.
              • Hi Michael,
                My opinion only...
Looking at your logo and thinking "boutique" clothing I have to dis agree with you, not even close.
The dress you have in the logo looks like a no style old lady housecoat, doesn't even have a butt or girly girl shape. Needs to be sexy, slinky, thin and hot in a classy way. The legs and posture thereof looks like she needs a walker or has serious bone issues. The font is a bit serious, need more feminine in it. A lady that goes to a boutique needs to look and think "I would love to look like that" Needs to be love at first sight. The black/white could work well.
Go to Google images and search "lady in dress silhouette" to more fully see what I am saying.
                • Honestly, i laughed while reading your comments. You pointed out everything horrible about the design in a funny way. thanks bob. I will try and work on it. Honestly on looking at it, I knew something was wrong(Many things in fact) but just didn't know what it was. I will just take my time and research more and try work on the tips given. though my laptop has problems for now. I'm hoping to get it fixed by next week. When i get it fixed, whatever i come up with, i will post it here for you to see. Thanks once again.
              • Hi Michael,
is this a design for learning Corel or is this a Logo for a customer? :) I think when this design is your first try on Corel, it looks fine (but not like a logo :)) My first design on Corel (years ago) was miles away from your Image above. ;)

Maybe you should check out a few tutorials on web regarding CorelDRAW (How to & tips +tricks). Furthermore it will helpfull to create a few objects with the bezier tool. Start with easy objects like an apple, a wine glass and a sun glass. On the other hand you need to know how to design a good logo (do's and dont's).
