When drawing an octagon with the polygon tool it's rotated 22.5 deg instead of straight.

Not me! I work with a geometric shapes like this every day and not all are horizontal. What is important to me is the SIDE length. I would like to be able to input a side length and have the shape created as such. But I have a macro for that. ;)
Nick Wilkinson had a macro on his old Isocalc site called ShapeCreator. It still works in X7...and I still use it often. You can choose how the shape is oriented and what basis is used for it's size. Wonderful tool!!
