Gradient fill is stuck on a pink gold preset. How can i modify?

I am using x7 trial version.. and it seems that whenever i try to gradient fill an object, it fills a weird pink gold by default... how can i have only 2 color gradient - gold and white?

What happened to the x7 presets? How can I create a completely new gradient? I feel stupid asking this but its driving me nuts..! :(

  • i meant the x6 presets.. sorry
    • What color are you using as "Gold"? I did a test with the "Gold" color from the CMYK default palette and it works fine

      • Hi Ariel... I did not pick any color as such (or maybe i dont remember).. but as you can see in the screenshot i attached, there is a shade of pink in the middle.. but i cannot select/delete it... if i double click and choose the gold color from CMYK palette, the space between the 1st and 2nd indicators changes to multicolor.. i anyhow did that and took the second triangle towards the first and it became fine.. i opened the document right now and it looks all okay to me again.. :/

i also opened a new document and tried a gradient fill.. it was black to white by default... i am so confused.. but i think it is sorted..pheww..! Thanks for the help :D
    • Create new gradient.
      1. Draw shape/text etc.
      2. Fill with first colour
      3. Push G key
      4. Drag gradient onto your shape
      5. Change second colour to what you want.
      6. Push F11 for more Gradient options
      • I beleieve the OP would like to know how to set default colors. Whenever I create a gradient fill, it defaults with black to white. What if, whenever I start a gradient fill, I want it red to orange as the deafault starting colors?
        • Yes Bill, that is another question... i think the gold was set as default for that particular file ( i do use gold a lot)... maybe from "object styles".. but i tried gradient fill in a new document.. and it was black to white..! so how do i set defaults?
        • Hi Chris.. Thanks a ton.. i think i was looking for the 'G' option.. i couldnt figure out... is there any way to do it without using the shortcut?
