I am trying to to use the Envelope tool to simulate a placard wrapped around an aircraft strut. ALL objects (Including text) are converted to curves but when I attempt to curve the objects (there are actually only 2 objects, the black and the rectangle behind with a gradient fill applied), some of right angles refuse to curve or even distort. Some will distort but NOT curve. FYI: The object was created from a traced jpg. Why? In order to produce the wrapped-around-a-pole effect (since this option is still NOT available in Draw) I first need to draw the placard and then export it as an image. Then I open it in Photo-Paint and apply the Cylinder effect. I then import that image back into Draw and trace it.
Come on Corel. Have some pride in your work and fix these stupid and perpetual bugs! I truly wish someone, ANYONE from Corel would contact me and explain why they refuse to fix these and other annoying bugs. As I've stated countless times, I'd be thrilled to pay for an "upgrade" that ONLY fixed bugs.
Corel bean counters: Pay the development teams to do the coding CORRECTLY. Corel management: Stand up and say something. You know this stuff is broken and yet you refuse to fix it. Your business is SOFTWARE. Why you didn't re-created the image as it was,using the tools of the program, instead to trace the JPG, and then try to curve the entire group?
According with your description, the problem you see is the program doesn't work as you expect or imagine. But that doesn't mean "a bug" or "big bug". Yes, it's a limitation of the program, specifically with the Enevelope and same happens on previous versions. I know, as an user all we can imagine to create a label, then apply an envelope to create the realistic 3D effect. But this is not how he program works. I said several times that some of the most used effcet of CorelDRAW (blend, extrude, envelope, perspective, etc) are outdated and should be re-designed from zero, qith more powerful and realistic options. Btw you can create the same image, with separate elements, in just few minutes.
Ariel, I guess I didn't explain the process adequately. The cylindrical effect cannot be done in DRAW, especially with text. The Envelope tool CANNOT achieve this effect. Illustrator can simulate objects wrapped around a cylinder, DRAW cannot.

There are two effects that must be applied:
1. The distortion of the text and image caused by the placard being wrapped around the strut (Again, cannot be done in DRAW. Hence the reason I export the drawing and do it in PHOTO-PAINT).
2. The curvature distortion caused by viewing the angled strut from the side. This is where the problem occurs.

Exactly. That what I said, this is not a bug, it's a feature request. Or a limitation of the program. A bug could be if you can do it with X6, for example, and it doesn't work with X7. I agree that is an useful effect that it should be added.
