How can I change the Global default settings for Font type and size. I use CorelDraw for only one purpose and ALWAYS use the same font type, size and centering that is different from the factory default.
Sorry. I was one minute faster. But maybe it's due the hour difference. [:D]
I realize that this is a very old post but I am having the same issue. I don't get this box. I have saved my workspace with the font and size I want and that does save but as soon as I place the text tool on my desktop it changes back to the Arial font with the default size of 24.
So I can open a new doc and it will show my default of technical 12pt, but not after I choose the text tool. I have looked at some other people who seem to have the same problems but there doesn't seem to be an answer.I am running win 10 and the X8 64bit. I have 2019 and had to remove that because it was so slow and the only help from customer service was a month of nothing until they told me it wouldn't work with my desktop as it was a win7 build??? I was using X8 home and student until I realized I couldn't save my workspace that took all day to set up. I went to X8 and now can't seem to make it work right, very buggy with the connect content docker going back to the internet when you start a new project and now this font business. Yes I uninstalled everything, including the C++ and Ghostscript to get this to install.
There is another, very direct way to (1) set the default for a document and (2) set it as the default for new documents.
The default objects properties are controlled by sets of styles. Open the Object Styles docker, and look under Default Object Properties.
In that screenshot, I have set the default object properties for Artistic Text to have Comic Sans MS as the font, at 16 pt size.
When I create new Artistic Text in this document, it will be Comic Sans MS, 16 point when created.
To use these Default Object Properties for Artistic Text as the default for new documents, one can right-click and then select "Set as New Document Default":
Another way to do this is to click on the button on the right:
The default object properties for new documents are managed separately for RGB and CMYK primary color modes, and they are stored in the workspace. When I did the "Set as new Document Default", the document I was working in had RGB as the primary color mode.
Now, when:
...that text will be Comic Sans MS, 16 point.
To save ALL default object properties as defaults for new documents, one can use this flyout:
to get to this dialog:
Note there that a number of things can be "baked into" new documents when they are created.
I'll add here that it may be confusing to see the font displayed on the Property bar when the Text Tool is active. The Text Tool can create Paragraph Text or Artistic Text, and it doesn't know which it is going to be until you actually click (for Artistic) or click and drag (for Paragraph).
When the Text Tool is active, the Property bar displays the default font and font size for Paragraph Text - which are completely independent of the default font and font size for Artistic Text.
In the example I posted above, with the Text Tool selected, the Property bar shows 12 point Arial. The Text Tool will produce 12 point Arial Paragraph Text if I click and drag, and will produce 16 point Comic Sans MS Artistic Text if I just click.
