I have created a series of geographical contour maps using Coreldraw, I would now like to turn these into 3d animations, can anyone recommend the right software? More generally, I am planning a complex 3d animation project which will all be new territory for me. I imagine the process will start with the production of detailed 2d vector drawings which can be rendered into 3d models? Can coreldraw (software I am very familiar with) play a part or must I rely solely on the 3d graphics software I ultimately end up using? Many thanks.

HI.
I think Draw is great for the illustration part, ie creating the images to be used.
If you will be doing a lot of batch exporting you might be able to write a macro that can batch export the graphics for you.
The Boxed version of CorelDraw Graphics Suite also contains a movie making software call Swish MiniMax 2 which is similar to Flash.
