Do you need to know how to draw hands? Just take a digital photograph of hands in various positions and then use it as a template for drawing.

If you do not have access to a tablet, I strongly recommend using the Bézier instead of the Freehand tool. You have to learn how to place either Smooth, Cusped or Symmetrical nodes as you draw, but when you have memorised that, everything will just go downhill.
