Hello. I am very new and just starting to use Corel. I manually added a couple curves in a script font in order to connect the letters for Laser cutting. Once connected, I use the segment eraser to remove the segment that overlap to produce a single open shape. Looks great in wireframe but when I toggle back to normal view, the 2 curves that I create are connected together and distort the scripts. What am I missing? I am attached the wire frame vs the normal view. Any help is appreciated!
type out your text then go Object/Shaping/Weld. Alternatively, although more steps, you can break apart the word, convert each character to curves then weld two overlapping characters first then begin welding or combining the rest.
Sometime shaping operations in CorelDRAW do some unexpected things.
It's difficult to look at just the result, and then try to guess how someone got there.
You might create the text, convert to curves, and then share that file if you want others to be able to try working with the same content that you are.
nlagace The Virtual Segment Delete tool has also an option to weld segments, that could be the solution here. The final step should then be that you subtract the holes of the charaters S, L, A. The help menu shows you how to weld (bottom of page):
