I'm bereft
I did a system restore and it corrupted itself and now I can't make any changes or update my PC but worse much worse is Corel X5 won't work and comes up with Error-1.
I can't even un-install it and start again and non of my F keys work. I had to happen on a Friday night so I have to wait the whole w/e before I can talk a PC man
I really am lost without CDX5 I never realised it took up so much of my time.
First queston would be, why did you do a system restore. That indicates to me you had a problem with the computer. What was the problem?
I gather by your statement. "I did a system restore and it corrupted itself and now I can't make any changes or update my PC..." you have a computer problem and a corrupt machice, not just Corel. Is this true? Not sure what the "it" is.
Oh yes it's a PC problem not Corel. Sorry I didn't mean to imply there was a problem with X5 - only that I didn't realise how much I 'play' with it!!
I did a system restore instead of an un-install - doh!! not sure why it corrupted tho'.
Funny thing is it's only the Corel programme that was affected, I can email - use the web and my other software but the problem is also stopping any changes to the PC - corrupt registry I assume.
On the bright side a clean install of Windows 7 will get rid of all rubbish I have collected.
We live and learn.
Thanks I do have the Windows 7 disc, none of my F buttons work. I have been busy backing up w/e.....
I've not yet needed to repair windows 7 but this might be useful: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ss/windows-7-startup-repair.htm
It does confirm (on page 7) that system restore is one of the possible features.
Many thanks [ yet again] HarryL I'llI keep that info just in case.
Happy Bunny again this morning, I had set aside today to sort my PC but last night it installed the same updates again [the reason I system restored] and everything is back to normally including Corel except for the one that has stopped Outlook from working again [so just need to find that offending update].
There are good alternatives to Outlook. Have you tried thunderbird?
It was recommend to me this morning so will look at it - thanks again
