Since i upated to Windows 7 I needed to update to Smart Designer 4.5. The problem is that since installing Smart Designer 4.5 I keep getting visual basic error messages in the other two programs. any suggestions onhow to resolve this?
Hello icotta; You may need to down load the latest updates for Windows 7.
My Thoughts George
Corel x5 will NOT install - Wilcom does NOT give you a serial number to install the "integrated" x5. Wilcom es e2 gold installed fine on an in- place win 7 pro os reinstall. Corel x5 will NOT! It wants a serial number that is not provided by Wilcom.
Win 7 updates: done
Uninstalls & reinstalls done by the book: many times for both programs, all to get Corel x5 past the serial number with no luck. This includes the instructions from both Corel & Wilcom on how to do it.
Uac, virus, firewall: all disabled
Msconfig: all non-windows items unchecked except for the sentinel & protexis. But also tried disabling those too a few times with no luck.
Ready to reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows 7 pro.
At my wits end, Wilcom & Corel! WHY DOESN'T WILCOM PROVIDE A SERIAL NUMBER?
When installing Wilcom EmbroideryStudio e2 (or DecoStudio e2), CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 is installed as part of the Wilcom product. The installation of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 in that setup is done silently and you should only see a setup window with a status bar. There is no prompt for a CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 serial no. when installing Wilcom e2 and CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 as part of it.
That's why there is no serial no. provided by Wilcom or Corel for installing CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 within the Wilcom e2 products.
Wilcom e2 setup can install CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 as integrated component only if it isn't installed already. Please make sure CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 is uninstalled before you run the Wilcom e2 setup.
No matter how many times e2 & Corel are uninstalled: Corel is NEVER installed during e2 setup. The Corel part is not "done silently". It's not done at all. I have even deleted all references to both programs from my computer and registry to no avail. Wilcom wants to remote into my computer, but I refuse to do that -- more to the point, I should not have to accept that as the only solution. So, there is no answer or solution.

If they offered to Screen Share to help you fix your problems, and you don't let them, It's kinda HARD for someone here to tell you how, when we don't know whats going ON. George

Purchased x5 JUST to get the serial number. However I installed X5 using the Corel setup.exe included on the Wilcom cd -- not the e2 setup.exe. Entered the serial number when prompted and it now works fine with es e2 gold. Didn't even need to uninstall anything first. Recommend buying the version you need outright if you have experienced the serial number issue.
