i get lots of files from lots of clients. recently i have been receiving a lot of eps files that have been created in adobe illustrator 13. i assume they are native ai files that were converted to eps by client so that i could open them.
i am currently using corel 12 but could not open those files. i therefore downloaded the trial version of x4, but find that i have the same problem. i cannot open the files. my intent is to not only open, but then to edit.
is this even possible with x4? i would find it hard to believe if the newest version could not open this. or am i doing something "wrong"??? if i cannot open the eps would i be able to open the actual native ai 13 file?
thanks for any help in advance!!!
the most common reason is the file compression with illustrator. If you save on illustrator without compression, you can open it with CorelDRAW
INSTEAD OPEN, try IMPORT.
(I'm not expert in AI file, sorry if my tip does not work, someone in this Forum will help better than I could). I am also curious to know about this question.

I do agree with Ariel here. The most common problem is that CS3 & CS4 have compression turned on and it needs to be turned off. I would also suggest upgrading to X4 Corel is now running the upgrade for $129. You won't regret it.
Good luck & keep learning.
Photoshop EPS files are different than Illustrator EPS files. Both are called "eps" but if it was created with PS are bitmaps (ie, a duotone) and if created with AI are vector.
