Hi all.
I received my boxed Corel X4 last Monday (bought from Amazon.co.uk). For the time being I am using the 15-day trial version I have downloaded for Corel website.
So I thought it's about time to register the product with Corel and keep using my copy (which has not yet expired). I entered the Serial number and I clicked on 'Connecto to the internet' (or something similar) button. The answer I got back was 'Invalid serial number'. I double and triple checked the serial number only to find out it's correct. I tried to enter the serial number without the dashes, same answer.
Now, the only way to straight this out is to call Corel and try to register the product with their customer support, only I'll have to wait till Monday...
Now, I am sure Amazon does not sell pirated copies and Corel does not give out fake serial numbers when selling boxes to Amazon, but why don't they make a unified serial number registry, so we don't have to keep their customer service busy? I bet Corel Customer Service has more important thinks to do than helping users with entering their serial numbers.
Note: Of course, I could go and try unistalling current version and reinstalling X4 from the DVD I bought, but maybe my serial doesn't work again, so I might have to call Corel Customer Service anyway. And again, if not all serial numbers work with the trial version, Corel should not be offering activation for the trial. They could simply instruct users to unistall the trial and install the software from their CD's or DVD's.
Just been crunky today, that's all...
This is really strange... you should be able to activate a trial with the serial number that is in the box you purchase from Amazon (we work closely with them). I will check on Monday when I am back in the office, but in the mean-time, I can only recommend that you de-install the trial and install the product from the DVD. As an extra, you will be able to install the additional content and templates, as well as the CorelDRAW screensaver and wall-paper that is on the CD ;-)

Hi Gerard. For now I'll stick to the original plan (telephone activation). I hope there will be no problem. Well, I am not very much into installing and uninstalling and then re-installing (trying to avoid possible double registry entries that might cause a chaos to my PC). In case there is no solution other than that, I'll follow your advice.
Thanks for answering.
So, finally, I managed to contact Corel Customer service (had to call them twice, as the first lady had the insane idea to return the product to Amazon and get a new one - was she on drugs or what?) where they told me (as I suspected) to uninstall the trial version and install the DVD version, as downloaded software is activated only if the product is bought from Corel Store.
Anyway, I re-installed X4 from the DVD I bought and everything was fine. So time for registration. That's what I thought... Yes, the product was registered.. only it was registered with the wrong account (I use 2 accounts one personal and one corporate), as X4 opens IE (which is not the default browser on my PC, Firefox is) and since the last time I accessed Corel Store through IE, was with my personal account, X4 was registered with my personal account - when my intention was to register X4 with my corporate account. No questions for confirmation, not anything. Corel server simply replied that 'My software was registered'...
Now, I registered again - manually this time - X4 with the correct (corporate) account, and I hope Corel won't think that I made illegal copies of my DVD... I even sent an e-mail regarding this matter to Corel Customer Service, but I am not sure it went through, as no e-mail notification or entry to 'My questions' section has appeared as of yet.
Anyway, enough with my adventures. Time to get to work! LOL
Interesting comment... you should be fine on the legal perspective as long as you use the product according to the End User License Agreement that you agreed to during the installation. If you want to be on the safe side, you can contact the customer care service (email should work) telling them to un-register you with your private email address.
While trying to register/active the latest CorelDraw Suite X6 (without success, so far), I found out that I have two (2) accounts registered with Corel, each with its own e-mail address - I am a customer of long standing.
Each account contains different applications. Since I'll soon lose one e-mail address, I would need to transfer the contents of one of them to the other account.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any link where I can either merge the two accounts or move the contents from one to the other.
Can you please help me with the resolution of my problem?
