I keep getting Error 1324 when reloading CorelDraw x5. I've tried uninstall from the control panel, the uninstall from Ace utilities.
I've searched the Coreldraw.com,closest I got was a suggestion of pressing F8 while loading, but upon review it was for CorelDraw X2.
Any suggestions short of loading o/s. For the record all other programs work.

Hi,
F8 is universial for all versions of CorelDRAW and Photo-Paint so go ahead and press down the key whilst starting CorelDRAW. Hold down until you see a pop up dialog that warns/inform for factory default. Klick OK and that should by default always take CorelDRAW backto how it was when you originally installed it. It will mean though that any customizationyou have dont to the interface, short cuts and everything will be lost. And you will have to re-customize the interface/short cuts.
Or you can look at this post I wrote and see if that rings a bell, Not saying its the same issue, butif it is, then do read http://stefanlindblad-english.blogspot.com/2010/06/fake-seriel-number-shuts-down-coreldraw.html
After pressing down F8.Have you installed the latest Service Pack 2?If not, then do. Look for it here http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/se/en/Content/1152796559943
You could also try this one written about it at Corels website corel.com http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/754721/~/error-1324.-the-folder-path-'*****'-contains-an-invalid-character.
I tried the download and install of sp2 and the same message: "Error 1324 the Program files contains invalid characters"(sic).
The F8 didn't work with the original disk
I'm going to try a different keyboard, maybe my F8 is bad.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks L.

If I was a Cowboy, I would maybe re-install the whole thing.uninstall and then re-install.
And ifI uninstalled I would after uninstall go back to Control panel and look for something called CorelDRAW... shell extension, and uninstall that one as well. So that you dont have anything saying CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5.
I have done just that many times. Simply to remove anything that would risk lurking around. Removing the shell extension isnt damaging anything - if you are uninstalling and then re-installing.
Ps. you would not like to remove shell extension if you are not uninstalling all of CorelDRAW GraphicsSuite.
This way you start afresh. If this doenst make it, then you should call up Corel Support/customer service and ask them. If there is anything wrong with the DVD you bought.
