changing colors in clipart?

I am using a clipart line drawing of a cat that is currently in black. The original file is png format. How do I change the color of the lines? Sorry to be so ignorant but I just have no idea how to do this.

I don't know if I should be using Phot-Paint or Corel Draw.

Can anyone guide me to the program and the steps to do this?

Import into Draw and trace it, then ungroup and color away. That should trace well.

If you want to keep the clipart as a PNG, then import it into CorelDRAW and use Effects>Adjust>Replace Colors. Set black as the old color and change the new color to whatever you like.

Steps: import into Draw (file/import). Right click on image and "outline trace/logo" play with settings like "details" till you like what your see. Then select in Draw and object/group/ungroup objects. Now you can play with the pieces, colors, etc.

Bob, thank you so much! I tried it and discovered there are 7 shades of black and gray in the drawing. Yikes! I now can really play with it.

One more quick question - what is the best method for learning this software? I have been trying things bit by bit and trying to use the guidebook but it is very haphazard.

I also tried this method and like the fact that it will change the entire image to whatever color I choose. Not sure which method (this one or the one suggested by bob) is best for my project at this point but both provide interesting options. I really appreciate the help.
