cannot install CorelDRAW Graphics suite X6 on Windows XP

I have just purchased CorelDraw Graphics Suite X6 (DVD). I am using Windows XP 32-bit (SP3 installed), but I cannot install from the disc.

The auto-run splash screen appears, but nothing happens when I click on any of the install options.
When I navigate to the directory X86 to find setup.exe, I get the message that "D:\x86\setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application".

Help please! Is there a workaround for this? Thanks in anticipation.

Something you say "I navigate to the directory x86 to find setup.exe" because when you put the disc in, it launches? If you download it, just double click the download and it installs. Sounds like a bootleg copy or something wrong with the disc. Is it the real factory disc or a burned copy? FYI on XP, x6 will only run the 32bit version.

Thanks Bob. I bought it from Amazon as a boxed DVD. It LOOKS like a legitimate factory copy!! There is a sticky label on the DVD envelope inside the box with a 28 character serial no. on it.

Do you think perhaps it is a defective DVD? Perhaps I could simply download the trial version and try and verify it using the serial no I have been issued with?

... or is there a way of detecting if it is actually a bootleg? If it is an illegal copy it is a very convincing looking one!

I suggest you contact Corel Customer Support. I am sure they can tell if it's legit or not. Does your computer allow auto run on discs?

Hello fraxinus; To go along with what Bob is saying you could also go to Corel.com and down load the trial ver. and add the serial number you have during the install. the only problem with this is that if it's not a good serial number you'll get a Nasty Gram email in about 30 days telling you it is going to convert back to a trial ver. ( which is NOT good.)
