Outline / Border Around Images

I just got Corel Draw x8, and can't figure out how to put a thin border or outline around each of the 8 or so images I have on one 18" x 24" page.

in my older version of CD I'd go to Effects> and then Create Boundary (I think it was),

how do I do it using x8??

and, how do I remove that yellow and make the background all white??

  • You can add a rectangle around multiple objects by selecting the objects and while holding down the Shift key, double-click the Rectangle tool.

Double-click the Rectangle tool to add a rectangle around the page.

    Is that what you needed??

    • Oh close Patti! What I want to do is put a thin border around each image, a real thin frame,
and get rid of that yellow color!
      • I tried Selecting an image and double clicking the rectangle tool, didn't work.
        • It works fine for me -- been using that trick for ever it seems like. Make sure you are holding down the Shift key as you double-click the rectangle tool.

You could also try the Boundary tool as you mentioned. Object menu>Shaping> Boundary. But it will make a rectangle too if you are working with bitmaps. BTW are these bitmap images or CD objects/vectors?

          • Right on that worked! I wasn't holding the shift key :-) Those are tiff images Patti,

thanks so much for the help! Oh when I published it to pdf that yellow color was gone!
            • The yellow color has to do with your monitor profile and/or the way CD is setup in the color management.
              • Hey Mike, how do I change the way C Draw is set up in color management??
              • Patti, I knew about the shortcut but it doesn't quite work as you describe. At least in X7 that is. Selecting multiple shapes and holding shift while double clicking the rectangle tool produces a rectangle around the shapes as a whole not individually. Am I missing something? If all the shapes are bitmaps then the boundary tool works as desired.
                • Shift + double click rectangle tool = one new rectangle the area of the selection. If nothing is selected then it creates a new rectangle the size of the page.
                  • Yes, I get it Tony. The op was to get a rectangle around each shapes selected. i.e select 8 shapes no matter they be perfect shapes or odd curves you'd be able to get a rectangle around each with a single click.
I use a macro for this.
                • Looks like you may have a bad display profile in Windows.
