I've tried all the settings that should work to associate jpgs with PP, but not of them are working. This is for PP 2018 in Windows 10 64-bit. Does anyone know of a work-around or something I might not have thought of so far? Thanks.
Paint 3D is part of the Windows creators update. If the instructions I gave you do not work you have an issue with Windows itself. The commands I gave you are direct commands in the operating system.
I have the same problem David. When I try to change file associations for .bmp, .tif, .jpg and a host of other raster file types, Corel PhotoPaint 2018 is not in the list, and there is no choice to navigate to the .exe file; the only choices are Microsoft apps and 'Look for an app in the store'. I'm about ready to tear my hair out.
So I had forgotten I could set file associations from within PP, so I went there and did that. Sure enough, as soon as I closed Paint, I began to get Windows error messages saying something like 'An app caused a problem with .*** file extension so the default has been set back to Photos.' This p****es me off in the worst way. Microsoft simply isn't going to let me change the file associations for these file types. I'm on Win 10 Pro, Build 1803. Any ideas?
