32bit vs 64 bit ?

After having a bit of trouble launching this new version,

found that it was running slow, and after changing my video card

still had same issue, BUT was able to resolve by changing to the 32 bit version.

Now it runs very fast, and the new features are really nice too.

  • I can corroborate this.

I have always had some slow rendering issues, among other problems, with my 2018 Suite.
I have never installed anything but the 64bit version in my 64 bit computer.
    Makes sense right?
And my system has been more than capable to run the software at full speed, so I always wondered 'why all the issues?'.

    When I moved from Win 7 64bit to Win10 (64bit), things didn't improve.
But when I recently upgraded my system, things got much worse.

I have a new Motherboard with Ryzen 7 processor, 8Gb Memory and an 8Gb Video card.
I can run games at full quality, high framerate.

And yet, rendering became super slow.
When zooming in and out (scroll wheel) to move around a project,
I had to wait while it lagged badly and stuttered, trying to render and re-render the image.
No matter how simple the vector artwork, or how complicated the bitmap.

Other things slowed too...like Saving a file.
Even opening a new file took forever.

Anyway...after trying to 'Repair' the software, I uninstalled the program (completely)...all files, etc.

I reinstalled, attempting to install 32bit, which you can't immediately do.
It actually doesn't give you this option during install.

I found that if you explore the Directories of the software (I have the disc, so I cancelled autoplay,
and used Windows Explorer to look into the file folders.
In there, you will find a 32bit directory, and within that, a 32bit Setup exe.
From there, you can install the 32 bit version.

    And wow...what an improvement!
Not only is the rendering lag gone, I've experienced no slow downs, no glitches, no lag.
    Other usual bugs have vanished.
Saving a file is almost instantaneous, no matter the file size.
And opening a new file is so fast, I can't even take a sip of my coffee before the file is open!

I can't believe how long I have suffered with the issues of 64bit.
I wish Corel could explain to me why it is the way it is, and why its never been fixed?
Apparently I am a little slow to the party, and this 'fix' has been known by many for quite some time.
But I am glad I finally caught up.
